There is no single Goodwill schedule. Goodwill Industries International supports a network of about 150 independent local Goodwill organizations, and each one sets its own store hours, donation hours and holiday closures. The four regional Goodwills we checked opened between 7 and 10 AM and closed between 4 and 9 PM, with a different Sunday schedule in most. Why Goodwill Hours Vary by Location
Goodwill does not keep one national schedule. Each store sets its own hours, and stores in malls, outlet centers and downtown districts often open later or close earlier than the rest.

Goodwill Hours Today: Why Every Goodwill Is Different
Goodwill's own website says its network is made up of about 150 local organizations. That structure, not any one company's policy, is why a Goodwill in Nashville and a Goodwill in Maine keep different hours.
Goodwill Industries International supports the network and runs the locator, the national donation guidance and the shared brand. The stores themselves are operated by regional organizations, each a separate nonprofit with its own board, territory and schedule. The same organization may also run donation-only drop-off sites, outlet stores and career centers on different hours from its main retail store.
Goodwill sites also come in more than one kind. A retail store sells donated goods; an outlet or bins store sells by the pound or at deep discounts; a donation center only takes drop-offs; and a career center offers job training. Search results for Goodwill hours often blend all of these, which is why a listed closing time sometimes belongs to the donation door rather than the sales floor.

Only the Southern Piedmont and Greater Washington pages list a Sunday schedule that differs from Saturday's; Northern New England uses one identical block for every day. The Nashville pages show a long list of retail stores, outlets and donation centers, each with its own seven-day grid.
Goodwill Donation Drop-Off Hours: Usually Shorter Than Store Hours
Donation hours are listed separately from store hours on most local Goodwill sites. In Washington, D.C., the New York Avenue location accepts donations Monday through Saturday, 9 AM to 6:30 PM, but the store stays open until 7 PM. Goodwill of Greater Washington's Virginia stores accept donations until 7 PM Monday through Saturday and 5 PM on Sunday, an hour before the 8 PM and 6 PM store closes.
Some Nashville donation centers keep their own hours entirely: one listing on giveit2goodwill.org shows a drive-through center open 8 AM to 6 PM every day of the week, while a Brentwood site opens 7 AM to 3 PM on weekends and 9 AM to 5 PM on weekdays. Arrive well before the posted close; attendants stop taking donations when the sorting area is full.

Is Goodwill Open on Sunday?
At the four organizations we checked, yes, every store was open on Sunday. Opening time was usually 10 AM and closing was 6 or 7 PM, shorter than Saturday. Northern New England is the exception: its stores run 9 AM to 6 PM seven days a week.
Sunday hours are a local decision, though. If a nearby Goodwill is run by an organization with a different policy, its Sunday could be shorter, later or closed. The location page will show it.
Goodwill Holiday Hours: Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter
Each local Goodwill publishes its own holiday schedule. Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont posted a one-page PDF for 2026–27 on its website, and it shows how much a single organization can differ from a retail chain's national rules.

- Open goodwill.org/locator and search by ZIP code; the results name the local organization that runs each store.
- Click through to that organization's own website and look for a locations or store hours page.
- Check the donation hours and holiday schedule on the same site; they are usually listed separately.
- For a time-sensitive donation drop-off, call the number on the location page.
Goodwill's website also says the network was founded in 1902 by Reverend Dr. Helms, who sold donated goods to pay workers to repair them. That mission, job training and employment services funded by store revenue, is why local Goodwills also run career centers and other programs that may have their own hours and appointment rules.
